Thank you for Walking the Talk!

May 23, 2018

The 2018 Walk with Your Doc event has officially wrapped up with nearly 5,000 British Columbians taking part. The annual series of walks was led by more than 250 doctors, joined by physiotherapists, nurse practitioners, paramedics, medical office assistants in 48 communities throughout BC.

The goal of Walk with Your Doc is to promote an activity that people of all ages and ability levels can use to lead a healthy lifestyle – walking.  It is one example of how Doctors of BC promotes health and wellness around the province.

We followed Dr Trina Larsen Soles as she attended four events throughout the week. Starting in her hometown of Golden, BC, Dr Larsen Soles and her colleagues led local seniors along the river dyke trail, taking in breathtaking views of the Kootenay mountains. See the photo gallery here.

Later in the week Dr Larsen Soles met up with the First Nations Health Authority in West Vancouver for a walk through Ambleside Park. FNHA staff members enjoyed the walk so much they decided to make it a weekly event!

Dr Larsen Soles’ next stop was Burnaby where she attended the Burnaby Division of Family Practice WWYD event. There, she listened to local health advocate Dr Davidicus Wong talk to attendees about healthy living before joining doctors, residents, medical students, and community members on a walk through Confederation Park.

For her final stop, Dr Larsen Soles and Doctors of BC CEO, Mr Allan Seckel, lead Doctors of BC staff members on a lunchtime walk through the Arbutus Greenway.
